Like others, I enjoy looking at some of the more elegant runway gowns - and fashion magazines during a cut and colour get a regular workout. But this is style that I just don't get.
Time was when I had four small boys to dress that one of the constant tasks was patching knees with iron-on patches that would seldom stay put and had to be stitched as well. Times change and hemlines go up and down - and many of the innovations are charming - but this one doesn't make sense.
Is dressing up in this fashion a metaphor for the common, the crude and the unfinished? but we have enough of that already. Note that the handbag is very expensive and quite likely over priced to assure us that this is a pose. Just a bit of elegance would help.
